A complete lesson plan with PowerPoint, worksheets, stretch and challenge material and differentiated tasks. This lesson goes through definitions of religion, introducing sociologists to A2 students that research into this area. There is an extended amount of sociologists included here which are not included on the specification, as well as those that are included. By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to articulate the different definitions of religion and link them to sociologists that proposed them. Equally, students will be equipped to make their own definitions and have an in-depth knowledge of Ao2 evaluative points about definitions of religion.

This is a full lesson that includes all the activities, a lesson plan, differentiated material (both for weaker and stronger students) and helps go through content of theories of family in the context of an essay question. There’s plenty of assessment for learning throughout. This lesson was successfully deployed several times as a 20min mini teach (this is reflected in the lesson plan) but has been planned and produced as an entire lesson. The theories included are New Right, Feminism, Functionalism and Marxism. There’s information sheets and structured worksheets for note taking and there is also a university journal for gifted and talented students relevant to the material.
